Seeking New Members for Board of Directors
The Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre (OBWC) is seeking to fill a position on the Board of Directors. Specifically, the OBWC is looking to fill the vacancy with an individual with a legal background and perspective. While the Board will not ask the individual for legal advice, it is clear that a legal perspective on the Board of Directors would be a tremendous asset. The OBWC’s Board champions our vision "as a centre of excellence for natural childbirth and wellness, accepted as a safe and desirable option for the majority of normal births in Eastern Ontario”. Guided by the midwifery model of care, we view pregnancy and birth as natural and normal life experiences, unique to each client and family.
You will be part of a qualified team
As a member of our skill-based policy governance Board of Directors, you will enjoy a collegial culture and learn from the perspectives of eleven other highly committed and qualified volunteer directors. Together with the support of our Executive Director, you will oversee our strategic direction, monitor our performance, quality and risk and ensure sustainable operations. You will engage in generative dialogue and contribute to making strategic decisions that will ensure that the OBWC continues to play a leading role in improving maternal/newborn care in our region.
You will share our values
Care and Compassion. We are caring and demonstrate compassion to our clients, actively listening to fully understand their needs. We create a home-like environment for family-centred care. We are kind and considerate, valuing unique skills and perspectives.
