OBWC Seeking Quality Advisory Committee Members

The OBWC is seeking a volunteer member for its Quality Advisory Committee.  Candidates should be from the Ottawa area with a clinical background in maternal and infant health.  Clinicians with experience in labour and delivery, quality assurance and patient safety are encouraged to apply.

About The Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre

The Ottawa Birth and Wellness Centre (OBWC) is a not-for-profit organization funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) to provide a broad range of maternal and infant services to women, newborns, and their families in the Ottawa area.

The OBWC’s vision is to be a centre of excellence for natural childbirth and wellness, accepted as a safe and desirable option for the majority of normal births in Eastern Ontario.

Guided by the midwifery model of care, the OBWC is a wonderful option for healthy women who have normal, uncomplicated pregnancies, and who are planning a non-medicated, out-of-hospital birth.

The mandate of the Quality Advisory Committee is to support and advise the OBWC in the ongoing improvement of its Quality Management Program and the provision of high quality services to clients and families.

Responsibilities of the committee include reviews of clinical outcomes, client satisfaction, safety and improvement opportunities, clinical policies, and various quality assurance reviews as well as providing recommendations for system improvements.

The Quality Advisory Committee meets 4 to 6 times each year.
