    • Yvette Halpin has 23 years experience as a Waldorf Early Childhood Educator providing parenting and child neurodevelopment support.
      The objectives for the FUNdational Baby Developmental Movement Class:
      * To observe your baby move and make note as to where they are at in the sequence of motor development and see if we can see any of the reflexes at work.
      * To give the opportunity for the mums with younger babies to see movements in action of the older babies present, giving them an idea of what to expect to see later for their babies.
      * Answer any questions you may have.
      * I’ll guide you in 10-15 minutes of interactive sensory games and songs to play with your little one.
      * To support one another in the experience of watching the natural unfolding of baby’s innate movements.

      Class is offered the last Monday of every month.

      Learn lullabies to calm and soothe, songs with rhythm and rhyme to bounce and walk with a fussy infant, gentle touching rhymes, and games to stimulate and aid development.

      A series of 4 classes for new parents with babies up to 3 months.

      This is the perfect first class for new parents. A gentle and relaxed class that is designed with generous time allotted so that your baby’s needs can be met while you are attending the program. Babies routinely fall asleep or need to be fed or changed during the course of the class so the relaxed pace of the program allows for your baby’s needs to come first.

      4 week session is $60.

    • Lisa Flanders is a Registered Physiotherapist with specialized training pertaining to pelvic floor physiotherapy. She completed a Bachelor of Arts as well as a Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba prior to completing a Master of Science, Physical Therapy at Queen’s University.

      Lisa began her career in orthopedic physiotherapy, which she loves and continues to practice, but had a keen interest in pelvic floor physiotherapy. Following several post-graduate courses on pelvic floor physiotherapy, it became a passion for her. She realized many individuals have common concerns related to pelvic health but are often too embarrassed to seek advice, or are unaware that treatment is available. Her goal is to remove the stigma surrounding pelvic health concerns and work with individuals to identify and optimize their pelvic health and function .

      Lisa sees patients with a variety of concerns related to orthopedic and pelvic floor pelvic health, including chronic pain, acute injury, sports injury, male and female urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, vaginismus (painful penetration), vulvodynia (pelvic pain) and coccydynia (coccyx pain). She uses a variety of techniques including manual therapy, acupuncture, education and home exercise programs.

    • Infant massage is a natural way to nurture and care for your baby. We tend to do it while holding them - without even thinking about it. Infant Massage classes teach a full body massage routine, the benefits of individual strokes, ways to communicate with your baby, and to have some very special time together.

      The health giving properties of Infant Massage include; growth and motor skill development, blood and lymph circulation, immune system stimulation, building bones, help with gas and colic, aid with deeper and longer sleep, emotional and physical bonding time.

      Facilitator, Brandie Lekovic, will lead you through individualized massage sessions. Sessions include massage oil and handouts. Classes are intended for babies who are pre crawling and provide lots of clever hints on carrying massage into the years to come. Brandie received her training with the International Association of Infant Massage.

      Cost of class is $75 for 4 sessions over 4 weeks, May 10th - May 31st.

      We will be creating a space for parents to follow their instincts when it comes to their new baby, which will allow them to set the stage for optimal brain development. We want to spread the word that babies wake up through the night, and for good reason. We want to share the other side of the sleep story! We will address identifying individual and family needs, creating support systems and providing a safe place for parents to share stories that support evidence based sleep patterns.   1. Kangaroo Fitness: Painfree Pregnancy - 7 Week Prenatal Alignment Class

    • Have a Pain Free Pregnancy! With a blend of prenatal Restorative Exercise, and small lifestyle changes (how you stand, how you sit, choice in footwear etc.) you can avoid common prenatal aches and pains and prepare your body for birth (vaginal or otherwise). The Prenatal Alignment Class is a course of seven weekly 1-hour classes that blend exercise with biomechanical education to help you move your body the way it was intended to be moved - in a biologically optimal way. The classes are led by Jillian Nicol (Live Aligned) and Susanne Reinhold (Kangaroo Fitness) who are both certified Restorative Exercise Specialists™ as graduates of the Whole Body Alignment course at the Restorative Exercise Institute.

      This class is suitable for women in first, second or third trimester or if you are trying to get pregnant. However, you will benefit most from the class if you are very early in your pregnancy or if you are not even pregnant yet because you have more time to adapt to new movement and postural habits without the extra load of the growing baby.

    • Lisa Flanders is a Registered Physiotherapist with specialized training pertaining to pelvic floor physiotherapy. She completed a Bachelor of Arts as well as a Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba prior to completing a Master of Science, Physical Therapy at Queen’s University.

      Lisa began her career in orthopedic physiotherapy, which she loves and continues to practice, but had a keen interest in pelvic floor physiotherapy. Following several post-graduate courses on pelvic floor physiotherapy, it became a passion for her. She realized many individuals have common concerns related to pelvic health but are often too embarrassed to seek advice, or are unaware that treatment is available. Her goal is to remove the stigma surrounding pelvic health concerns and work with individuals to identify and optimize their pelvic health and function .

      Lisa sees patients with a variety of concerns related to orthopedic and pelvic floor pelvic health, including chronic pain, acute injury, sports injury, male and female urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, vaginismus (painful penetration), vulvodynia (pelvic pain) and coccydynia (coccyx pain). She uses a variety of techniques including manual therapy, acupuncture, education and home exercise programs.

  3. Comfort Measures: Ottawa Childbirth Education Association

      It is a great refresher for those who have already taken a prenatal course, are having another baby, preparing for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian), and is especially designed for those wanting strategies to avoid pharmaceutical pain relief.

Pia has been teaching the HypnoBirthing® course in Ottawa since 2005, and she is passionate about working with women to help them discover the power and innate intelligence of their own bodies.

  1. Infant Massage

    • Infant massage is a natural way to nurture and care for your baby. We tend to do it while holding them - without even thinking about it. Infant Massage classes teach a full body massage routine, the benefits of individual strokes, ways to communicate with your baby, and to have some very special time together.

      The health giving properties of Infant Massage include; growth and motor skill development, blood and lymph circulation, immune system stimulation, building bones, help with gas and colic, aid with deeper and longer sleep, emotional and physical bonding time.

      Facilitator, Brandie Lekovic, will lead you through individualized massage sessions. Sessions include massage oil and handouts. Classes are intended for babies who are pre crawling and provide lots of clever hints on carrying massage into the years to come. Brandie received her training with the International Association of Infant Massage.

      Cost of class is $75 for 4 sessions over 4 weeks, May 10th - May 31st.

      We will be creating a space for parents to follow their instincts when it comes to their new baby, which will allow them to set the stage for optimal brain development. We want to spread the word that babies wake up through the night, and for good reason. We want to share the other side of the sleep story! We will address identifying individual and family needs, creating support systems and providing a safe place for parents to share stories that support evidence based sleep patterns.   2. Kangaroo Fitness: Painfree Pregnancy - 7 Week Prenatal Alignment Class

    • Have a Pain Free Pregnancy! With a blend of prenatal Restorative Exercise, and small lifestyle changes (how you stand, how you sit, choice in footwear etc.) you can avoid common prenatal aches and pains and prepare your body for birth (vaginal or otherwise). The Prenatal Alignment Class is a course of seven weekly 1-hour classes that blend exercise with biomechanical education to help you move your body the way it was intended to be moved - in a biologically optimal way. The classes are led by Jillian Nicol (Live Aligned) and Susanne Reinhold (Kangaroo Fitness) who are both certified Restorative Exercise Specialists™ as graduates of the Whole Body Alignment course at the Restorative Exercise Institute.

      This class is suitable for women in first, second or third trimester or if you are trying to get pregnant. However, you will benefit most from the class if you are very early in your pregnancy or if you are not even pregnant yet because you have more time to adapt to new movement and postural habits without the extra load of the growing baby.

    • The Ottawa Childbirth Education Association (OCEA) suggests you take your prenatal classes between 20 weeks and 36 weeks. Be sure to register early in your pregnancy in order to ensure a place is reserved for you. Class size is limited to a maximum of 8 couples.   2. Multiples 101: What to expect when you're bringing home multiples

    • Our prenatal course, Multiples 101, offers hints, ideas and true-life stories about coping with newborn multiples. It also offers expectant parents the opportunity to participate in a supportive network with other parents who are expecting twins or more. These classes are not designed to provide medical information and should not be a replacement for hospital prenatal classes. On the other hand, all classes are taught by volunteers who themselves are parents of multiples (and not medical professionals). We provide you with our own experience and share knowledge and ideas to help you deal with multiples.

      Cost per couple: $40 for members and $50 for non-members (includes all relevant materials for the course).
